Share your Story- Karen
When I was a child, my three sisters and I were fortunate to have two parents who modeled obedience in trusting and obeying God’s word. At the age of 9, I became involved with Bible Drill in our church and began memorizing scriptures from the Bible. One afternoon while riding home from practice, I shared with my Father some verses I had learned that day. He asked me if I understood what they meant. I did not. He then shared with me God’s plan to provide eternal life for His children. That evening, at my mother and father’s bedside, I knelt with my Dad and invited Jesus to take control of my life.
It was much later when I realized that it was not about religion or a particular denomination, but rather my relationship with Jesus Christ that was most important. Each day I struggle with making right choices, but I have the assurance that He is walking with me every step of the way. God promises in His word that if I call on Him, He will answer me; if I confess my wrong choices, He will forgive me and He will give me the strength to do what is right. There is a comfort and freedom in not fearing death! I know that if I were to die today I would have the free gift of eternal life that is promised in God’s word.
Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9
