Drive-by Prayers

Be joyful always; pray continually…

I Thessalonians 5:16-17

I have a son in middle school and a son in elementary school, right across the street from each other and just a mile from our house.  I drive by the schools just about every time I go out.  When I sent my first son off to kindergarten, I got into the habit of saying a quick prayer every time I drove past.  I prayed for his safety, his teacher, and his friends.  As I got to know his classmates, I was able to pray for each of them as God brought them to my mind.  I pray for peace and safety.  I pray that my sons will continue to honor God and be a witness.   I pray the leaders will have wisdom.  And I ask God to tell me what to pray for specifically.

I was reflecting on this habit one day as I was driving in a different direction when I passed a church, not ours.  The sign out front stated that they would be having a community outreach and I thought, “I should pray for that!”  Right across the street was another church advertising a children’s program, and I just rolled with it.  I got caught up in thinking of all the people and places I pass by every day that could use a little prayer on their behalf.

Who do you pass by every day?

I love this Pam. I used to do it with a neighbor of mine. This was a great reminder to find another Drive-By Prayer Moment! Thanks!
