Wow!
Wow! What an amazing Friday I had! It was our 4th Christmas banquet here at Dogwood Church and God definitely showed up for “An Unusual Gift”.
We wanted to create ambiance where women would feel at home. Our stage was beautifully decorated with large wrapped gifts, flowing red fabric, and a gorgeous chandelier. Every table was unique and beautiful. Each hostess had poured out her heart, her personality and her love for God and her guests. There was so much attention to detail . . . I was literally amazed by the creativity.
Even more than what our team did with all of the preparation, however, was the transformation that took place in our Auditorium with the presence of women who love Jesus. The room was alive with the Spirit of God! His love filled the room and transformed it into a warm and inviting place where God could go about His work. An atmosphere was created where women knew they were valued.
Jennifer Rothschild spoke with transparency and humility. Her words cut to the heart as she told of her life with blindness . . . and Jesus. Her story is a “Hallelujah” story, despite heartache and disability. She put life and heaven in perspective for all of us.
I have heard from women who made a decision for Christ, want to know more about Jesus, or who want to know more about Dogwood Church. That is the reason we work so hard on this event. So women will come to know our Jesus, our precious Savior, as their own.
Let me share with you what Phil Rothschild told me with absolute sincerity at the end of the evening, paraphrased:
“I felt love and God’s presence the moment I stepped into that room. I’m not even a woman, but I know that you had everything that a woman would be attracted to: beauty, girl friend talk, creative ideas they could take home . . . and love. You and your team did everything right.”
Ladies, this is from a man who has seen more than his share of women’s events . . .
So, on behalf of each woman who attended “An Unusual Gift” and our Event Team, I give thanks to our mighty God! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful evening I spent at your banquet last Friday night. My daughters, Melody Black and Karen Slade, helped to host a table. They didn’t even come close to preparing me for what was in store—the decorations, the food, the atmosphere…it was all stunningly beautiful. Jennifer Rothchilde was just amazing. I will never forget her testimony and music. Your church ministers to some of the most precious people I know, and I thank you and thank God for that!
This sounds absolutely wonderful. It sounds like you ladies went all out in throwing this party in honor of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Great job!!!
I am so grateful to be a part of our wonderful prayer team! It’s such an amazing blessing for me to pray with you, to study God’s word with you, and to have you as friends and sisters in Christ. The banquet on Friday was my first and it was much more than I had anticipated it to be. God was definitely with us and I agree that his presence filled the room. It was so wonderful and spiritually uplifting! Thank you to all who worked so hard to make it happen.
