So Much Bigger

It will go down in history as the Snowstorm of 2010!  Atlanta was blanketed with, well, about 1/8” of snow.  Haha!  Then there was the ice, which showed up in all the wrong places and caused trouble for many commuters.  Schools were closed and children frolicked in our winter wonderland.

And God revealed Himself to my 9-year-old daughter, Jacqueline, in an exciting way!

Here’s what Jacqueline emailed to me.

I went out and collected a bowl of snow. My brother and I were texting and I told him it had snowed. He asked if I made a snowman.  There was a long pause.

Then, my mom walked in and suggested that we use that small amount of snow and make a snowman with what we had. We tooth picked cranberry eyes onto his head and used cocoa for hair and pine needles for his arms.  Well, it took us about 5 minutes to make that snowman but he was perfect!

We went outside to take pictures of him in the snow, but we left the door open and our dog came running out.  Before we could stop him, Jesse started licking the snowman’s head and almost knocked it off his body.

I saw how much bigger the dog was than the snowman.  I thought how we are like that snowman and God is like the dog.  He is so much bigger than us!   Sometimes we think we are perfect like the snowman, but God can come along and knock us down in an instant.

He is so much bigger than us!

So every time I see the snowman I think how God is so much bigger.

Praise the Lord for He is truly bigger than anything we could ever imagine!  What more can I say?

Thank you Jacqueline. You are a very wise young lady. As we grow older we sometimes start to think that we are in charge of our lives. It’s times like these when we need a reminder from our children to put us back in our place. God is much bigger than us and He is in control.

    Hi Girls,
I loved the blog today! Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I love you both. Thanks for reminding that God is SO much bigger than I am… Mary Michael leaves to go to Brazil on a month long mission trip tonight…God is So much bigger than I am. Meg wants to take the next quarter off from Clayton College to travel to Kenya with the Dogwood team… God is SO much bigger than I am. Tomorrow there will be a conference call with officals to advise us on the adoption of three Guyananese siblings…God is SO much bigger than I am. Thank you for this humble reminder that I must ‘melt’ (be the snowman) for Him to truly shine. Our dog would have been terrified of the tiny snowman…we are all different and our boogieman might be someone elses toy…we need each other!

    Love and Hollywood hugs,

    Jacqueline,
How I enjoyed your blog! I love when the Lord teaches us something right in the middle of our regular day. You are so right that God is so very big and we are truly tiny. How amazing that He loves us so much! Your blog made me think how just like your dog almost overwhelmed that snowman with his “love”, sometimes God almost knocks us over with His elaborate love. Your story today helped do that for me. I cherish how He loves children and reveals Himself to them. I am so proud of you for being a great listener to His voice. You are very loved by Him and by your principal!

Jacqueline, When I looked at your cute little snowman and see your dog licking his head, it is a picture to cherish! To read your story, is also, something to cherish, because it brings us down to the snowman’s size and that God loves us so much that he shows it in so many ways. Just look at Jesse licking that snowman…so gently with love. Yes, God loves us no matter how little we are too. Thank you for sharing this because we need it everyday. How great it is that God is bigger than us. Love you, sweet little Grand Niece.
