Heaven Rules

The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.
–Daniel 4:26—emphasis mine
Well if this isn’t an incredible time to be alive I don’t when is. Just look at the political climate in our own nation’s capital: Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Special Interest Groups, Tea Partiers, etc. They all have their talking points and they all believe passionately that they’re right – most, unfortunately, to the exclusion of any opposing views. It looks like our system of government, which was built on a brilliant man-made document, is stumbling along and in danger of loosing the checks and balances of what makes it work so well.
And then there’s unemployment, higher taxes, higher gas prices, a turbulent housing market, corrupt Wall Street dealings, construction companies defaulting, healthcare insecurities. Oh and did I mention the opinion polls? Americans, as a general rule, are dissatisfied with the government’s handling of our nation. All of the above mentioned troubles we, for the most part, lay at the feet of our government.
It is a bit overwhelming and frightening, huh?
I’d like to give you an example of someone who lived under two regimes. Ruthless regimes. His name is Daniel. Now Daniel was imprisoned in this country under these regimes yet he lived in a different government than the one in which he served. And this “different” government ruled completely the earthly kingdoms; whether it looked like it or not. No matter who was in charge – Babylon or Persia – Daniel knew that God’s kingdom ruled. He never wavered on that belief. Heaven Rules. That’s because Daniel knew his God.
Lord help us to see that Heaven Rules. Help us to believe this no matter what happens in the world around us. Place in us a measure of faith in Your absolute sovereignty that cannot be shaken.
Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons;
He removes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge
to those who have understanding;
He reveals deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with Him.

It’s so encouraging to remember God is the ultimate authority in our lives! I came across the quote this morning and it fits so nicely … “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” Corrie Ten Boom
Inspiring, Felicia. He reigns forever.
