New year - which direction?

For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.

I Thessalonians 2:13

I hope your holiday was filled with joy and wonder.

Happy New Year!!

On Tuesday, Jan 11, 2011, I’m starting a Bible study on I Thessalonians.  I’ll be sharing some of that study on this blog in the coming weeks.  If you would like, you can start reading the book of I Thessalonians.  It won’t take very long as there are only 5 chapters in it.   Paul is the author and he is encouraging and instructing the Christ followers of Thessalonica with the view that Christ will return to the earth.  The next time He comes it will be radically different.  See if you can find what Paul mentions at the end of each chapter.

This book is full of teachings concerning our faith.  It’s about walking blameless – walking in a manner worthy of our calling in Christ.  Take time to meditate on this book.  Let it soak into your heart and mind.  Here’s my prayer for you (I actually stole this from Paul!):

And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you; so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.
